NIKE CORE POST GAME EMPLOYEE MAGAZINE
CONCEPT + DESIGN
something clever was hired by nike to REDesiGN and update their former internal retail employee publication. the original publication, the retail register, was a 20 page quarterly magazine.
As part of the redesign, nike retail wanted to create a magazine that would span all of 2011. After consulting with nike YEARbook theme and layout was agreed upon. The resulting 40 page year long magazine was received warmly by nike retail and it's employees.
CUSTOM GRAPHICS WERE CREATED AS WELL TO KEEP WITH THE CONCEPT OF HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK MEETS ESPN THE MAGAZINE. YOUNG AND SLEEK. ONCE THE YEARBOOK MEETS MAGAZINE CONCEPT WAS DECIDED WE BEGAN TO BRAND THE SECTIONS WITH LANGUAGE THAT RESEMBLES WHAT ONE WOULD FIND IN A YEARBOOK COMBINED WITH THE SPLASHY GRAPHICS OF A SPORTS MAGAZINE.
THE PUBLICATION WAS VERY TEXT HEAVY SINCE IT COVERED THE ENTIRE YEAR. WE COMBATTED THIS ISSUE BY STRATEGIC USE OF WHITE SPACE AND BY USE OF BOLD IMAGES WHERE POSSIBLE. LARGE AMOUNTS OF INFORMATION WERE BROKEN INTO SMALL BITS FOR A QUICK READ AND TO MAKE IT VISUALLY EYE-CATCHING.
NIKE ALSO USED THIS PUBLICATION TO HELP KICK OFF ITS NIKE BETTER WORLD CAMPAIGN WITH ITS EMPLOYEES. SOMETHING CLEVER WORKED DIRECTLY WITH NIKE BRAND TO CREATE THIS SPECIAL SPREAD.
WHEN PAGES REQUIRED A LARGE AMOUNT OF TEXT, OR AS IN THIS CASE - NAMES, CREATIVE GRAPHICS WERE IMPLEMENTED TO MAKE THE INFORMATION MORE VISUALLY STIMULATING. THE PAGE ON THE LEFT CONTAINS OVER 300 NAMES OF EMPLOYEES CELEBRATING A "MILESTONE" ANNIVERSAry.
